This is now perilously close to the Bank of England\u2019s 7% threshold for the consideration of a base rate increase.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(39.100000%, 38.900000%, 38.700000%);\">The Monetary Policy Committee, who hold responsibility for setting interest rates in the UK,\u00a0<\/span>have been keen to point\u00a0<span style=\"color: #646363;\">out that a breach of the 7% unemployment threshold\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #646363;\">will not automatically cause an increase in interest rates, however, given the improving state of the UK economy, it would seem reasonable to assume that we will see a base rate increase at some point in the coming 18 months.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(39.100000%, 38.900000%, 38.700000%);\">Providers will soon start to \u201cprice in\u201d this increase in interest rates, which will make the cost of mortgage finance higher than it has been previously.
