Happy International Women’s Day!

‘As of 2021, there were 516 thousand full-time male employees in the financial and insurance activities sector in the United Kingdom, whereas there were 344 thousand female employees.’

In a male dominant industry, Buckingham Gate is breaking the mould with women currently outnumbering men in the Buckingham Gate office. Now, of course, that is not on purpose, Matthew’s philosophy when hiring new staff has always been the same – if he feels the candidate will fit into the team and will contribute to the success of the business as everyone else does, then they are hired!

In addition to the 7 women already working at Buckingham Gate, we welcome yet two more lovely ladies. Let me introduce to you:

Elizabeth ‘Lizzie’ Flaxington – Administrative Support

Hi, my name is Lizzie. I graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2020 with a degree in Mathematics and Economics. I have previous experience in Public Sector Audit, working with the NHS and local governments. Outside of work, I love learning languages and about new cultures – I went on a solo trip to Japan in 2019 after studying the language at A-Level and hope to return someday!

I chose to start my financial planning career at Buckingham Gate as it is a small, personal team that puts a real emphasis on helping clients and their families.

Alexandra ‘Alex’ Cullen – Paralegal

Hi, I’m Alexandra. I graduated from Durham University in June 2021 with a degree in Law (LLB). I have had experience in working in a range of legal fields alongs

ide both solicitors and barristers, as well as in pro bono legal work relating to Tenancy and Housing Disputes. In my spare time, I enjoy playing

netball, running, eating out, and spending time with friends.

I chose to work at Buckingham Gate as it offered an amazing opportunity to develop my skills and interest in pursuing a career in Estate Planning, as well as a client-focused and committed working environment, which really appealed to me.

With so many families being torn apart in Ukraine right now and with women and children fleeing the country, Buckingham Gate has today donated to help the cause.

After researching the various charities supporting Ukraine, Buckingham Gate has decided to donate to DEC (Disasters Emergency Committee) Ukraine Humanitarian AppealThis is one of the best appeals to give to because every pound donated by the UK public to the DEC will be matched by the government, up to the value of £20m. You can donate at a Post Office, as well as directly on their website. If you would like to donate like us, you can do so below:

  • £30 could provide essential hygiene supplies for three people for one month.

  • £50 could provide blankets for four families.
  • £100 could provide emergency food for two families for one month.
