Happy International Women’s Day!

‘As of 2021, there were 516 thousand full-time male employees in the financial and insurance activities sector in the United Kingdom, whereas there were 344 thousand female employees.’

In a male dominant industry, Buckingham Gate is breaking the mould with women currently outnumbering men in the Buckingham Gate office. Now, of course, that is not on purpose, Matthew’s philosophy when hiring new staff has always been the same – if he feels the candidate will fit into the team and will contribute to the success of the business as everyone else does, then they are hired!

Markets in the Red

I awoke this morning to what will be described by the media as a ‘Sea of Red’ – which is significant falls on the vast majority of major markets that had already started trading and predictions of the same for the FTSE here in the UK and on the European exchanges.

Reflecting on Normality

I must admit, the past two weeks have felt a little surreal. After 18 months of enforced screen time and virtual meetings, seeing the world come back to life in a major way has been a real pleasure.

Monthly Vlog – July 2021

*July’s Vlog*

In this month’s Vlog, as usual, Matthew provides updates on the market and the performance of the Buckingham Gate Portfolios. Matthew also speaks about how US technology companies continue to dominate the markets. He asks for your thoughts on your preferred format for the Buckingham Gate Client Event this year, and lastly Matthew discusses the potential Budget push-back speculation. We hope you enjoy!

Turbulent Times – 6th November 2020

Well, it certainly has been a tumultuous few weeks.

Lockdown part II seems to have coincided with a fairly inconclusive US election result, which at the time of writing, looks as if it could remain that way for many days or even weeks at this stage. Throw in a relative lack of news over the progress (or not) being made with the Brexit trade deal and we have a recipe for an interesting winter.
